jan 1, 1898 - Phillipines

Description:

Imperialist viewed the Philippines islands as the gateway to trade with China and therefore, McKinley annexed the Philippines. However, many Philipino opposed U.S. rule and rebelled. During the rebellion, 200,000 Philipino died and 5,000 U.S. troops died. This occupation and annexation of the Philippines reinforced the U.S. foreign policy of imperialism.
