jan 1, 1807 - Embargo Act

Description:

This act was made in response to the French and British war as America was not seen as a neutral country. They then stopped exports and imports in order to try and show neutrality, but this plan backfired and hurt the economy. This was important because it showed the lengths the U.S. would go to to sustain neutrality.
