On August 3rd, 1492, Italian Sailor Christopher Columbus left for his expedition. He set sail from Spain with 3 ships. The ships were called the Santa Maria, the Pinta, and the Nina. On October 12th, the expedition reached a little Island in the Bahamas called Watling. This was the first step of the discovery of the New World. Columbus returned to Spain with new resources as well as many Indian Captives. Columbus was the first person to discover the Americas, and he completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean.Added to timeline:
