The riot of La Granja de San Ildefonso or riot of the sergeants of La Granja was an uprising that took place in Spain in May 1836 during the Regency of Maria Cristina de Borbón in which a group of garrison and guard sergeants The royal palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia), where the regent was with her five-year-old daughter Isabel, forced María Cristina de Borbón to return to enforce the 1812 Constitution and to appoint a government Liberal progressive chaired by José María Calatrava with Juan Álvarez Mendizábal again in the Treasury portfolio.
