As a result of the creation of NATO by western nations, the Soviet Union created the Warsaw Pact (1955). The nations that were involved with this pact combined their armed forces and had their army leaders based in Moscow (capital of Soviet Union). The nations include Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. These nations were also known as the communist bloc.
The creation of the Warsaw Pact had established the countries the Soviets had control over. This would establish to the Western Powers of the countries that were in aid of, as well as being supported by, the Soviets.
