Description:

In response to the fleeing East Germans into West Germany from 1949-1961, The Soviet and East German governments started the construction of the Berlin Wall.
The fleeing Germans were thought to of reflecting poorly on the communist system, therefore resulting in wanting to keep the East Germans in to prevent exodus to the West.
The construction of the wall was significant to the Cold War because it eliminated the fleeing Germans' opinions on the government (lack of freedom).
