jan 1, 1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis

Description:

Fidel Castro and Khrushchev had reached an agreement, which led to Khrushchev placing nuclear missiles in Cuba. This introduced the fact that most parts of America could now easily be bombed by Russia. Kennedy had ordered a blockade of Cuba and demanded the removal of all missiles that were located there. Khrushchev eventually backed down, which led to his credibility being diminished. This event led to even further tensions and increased fear of nuclear war. If war had broken out, the majority of the world would be threatened.
