jan 1, 1765 - Stamp Act
Description:
The Stamp act was the second act to be passed. Where it was required that revenue stamps be placed on most printed papers (legal documents, newspaper, pamphlets, and ads). The first direct tax where the colonies had to pay and not the the taxes merchants would have to pay on imported goods.
Protests did arise against this act and in the end the stamp act was appealed and removed. But this was also the start in colonies fighting back against the British. As we see them also forming groups known as the Sons of Liberty and the Daughters of Liberty.
