Gains Popularity
Description:
One of the biggest examples of the patriarchial structures of the time, footbinding restricted womens' feet by crushing them over time. This kept them bound in few places and contributed to economic development due to the limited mobility granted while creating goods. It also served as a means for marriage and arrangement of families. It was a structure meant to define gender roles in the society.
