aug 23, 1939 - Signing of the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact

Description:

On August, 23rd, 1939 (shortly before the outbreak of World War II), Germany and the Soviet Union signed the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact. The pact was made so that Germany could invade Poland, unopposed by a strong military power. This however causes Great Britain and France to declare war of Germany and in turn starts the second world war.
