jan 28, 1830 - Andrew Jackson And Indian Removal 1830 to 1837

Description:

On May 28, 1830 President Andrew Jackson and the U.S. government passed the Indian Remval Act which allowed the U.S. government to negotiate with the Native Americans for their land. Instead what happened was that the U.S. government and state governments coerced the five civilized tribes into giving up their land in southeast United States for land in Indian Territory. This resulted in the trail of tears where thousands of natives were forced to move to in Indian Territory in the harshest conditions.
