nov 22, 2014 - Death of Tamir Rice
Description:
In Cleveland, Ohio, a 12-year-old black boy, named Tamir Rice, was fatally shot by police officers just seconds after they encountered the boy. A man had called 911 reporting a boy pointing a gun. The gun in question turned out to be a toy pistol missing its orange safety cap. While Rice's death was ruled a homicide, a grand jury decided not to charge the police officer. The fact that a boy was killed, and no one was to blame, sparked intense discussions of how to prevent police violence, especially towards people of color.
