nov 4, 2008 - Election of Barack Obama

Description:

Barack Obama was a Senator from Illinois who ran for president in 2008 and ended up defeating Sen. John McCain from Arizona. When Obama was sworn into office on January 20th, 2009, he became the 44th President of the United States, and the first black President. His election was important because everyone doubted he would win due to his race, and when he won, black Americans hoped that racial discrimination would finally end.
