sep 4, 1957 - Integration of Little Rock High School
Description:
In Arkansas, Governor Orval Faubus ordered the state's national guard to prevent the admittance of nine African American students to Little Rock High School, an all-white school. In response, President Eisenhower sent federal troops to ensure the integration of the school. This was one of the first tests of the Supreme Court's ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, and it shows how much the South resisted integration.
