In spite of all the secrecy, details of the Bolshevik conspiracy imme-
diately became known to the Makhnovist army headquarters. The
deputy commander of the Iron Regiment, Ogarkov, was recruited
by the conspirators but went to the Shtarm and confessed his guilt.
For six weeks he was the eyes and ears of the staff at the very heart
of the conspiracy.
