15h 30min, aug 29, 1862 y - Second Battle of Bull Run/ Anteitem

Description:

Lee (S) v. Pope (N). The Confederate troops pushed north eventually converging at Antietam Creek. McClellan was put back in charge. He found a copy of Lee's battle plans and was able to halt Lee's army. McClellan was then removed from command. Lincoln used this opportunity to launch his Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation declared slaves in the rebelling Confederate states forever free. This gave Union armies more members because slaves wanted to prove that they were worthy of citizenship.
