mar 3, 1820 - Missouri Compromise
Description:
In 1819, Missouri requested to be admitted to the union as a slave state. But, this would upset the balance of the free states and the slave stated. Congress settled upon a compromise, this was called the Missouri Compromise. It would grant Missouri's request to join the union as a slave state, but it also admitted Maine as a free state. An amendment was also passed that formed an imaginary line across what was formerly Louisiana Territory, this established boundaries between regions of slavery and freedom.
