apr 30, 1803 - The Louisana Purchase
Description:
After being defeated by the English in the French Indian War, France left North America and gave all its land on the continent to the Spanish by the terms of the Treaty of Paris in 1763. But in 1800, Louisiana was returned to France by the terms of the Treaty of San Ildefonso. Napoleon, the then emperor of France, had big plans for Louisiana but ultimately sold the land to the young United States of America for $15 million in 1803.
