The first was the creation of a research computer network, which was called ARPANET. Its main task was to switch packages of the Agency for Advanced Research Projects of the US Department of Defense. A prerequisite for the creation of such a network was the launch of an artificial Earth satellite in the USSR in 1957. After this event, in order to increase the degree of information security in the event of war, the United States Department of Defense urgently ordered the development of a reliable system for data transmission and allocated the necessary funds for this. The special agency DAPRA, which was responsible for the introduction of new technologies in the United States, took up the issue of creating a computer network. Over time, ARPANET has developed and become popular among scientists from various fields of science.
