"USDA and HHS jointly issued the second edition of Nutrition and Your Health: Dietary Guidelines for Americans. This edition was nearly identical to the first, retaining the seven guidelines from the 1980 edition. Some changes were made for clarity, while others reflected advances in scientific knowledge of the associations between diet and chronic diseases." 2
