Description:

Three days after her wedding, Lily goes to visit Snow Flower's household for the first time to help her laotong with her Sitting and Singing. When Lily goes there, she realizes that everything that she has been told was a lie. Snow Flower's house didn't look grand and luxurious as Snow Flower had described, it was rather empty and smelled of rotting meat and something sweet. Lily learns that Snow Flower's family had ran out of money a long time ago and her father had become addicted to opium. Snow Flower was now marrying into a butcher's family, which was considered to be one of the worst marriage arrangements for a women at the time. Although Lily was overridden with many emotions, she knew to compose herself and help her laotong in one the most critical moments of her life. Thus Lily orders Madame Wang to bring food from her natal home and also paid three girls from Tongkou to help with Snow Flower's Sitting and Singing since no one would come willingly knowing Snow Flower's family's reputation.
