Penguin along with Saeed opened Purity while a similar server at the time called Venture Vanilla was down for maintenance, as a place for the playerbase to play on while the server was down. When VV came back up though he decided to leave it and instead dedicate his time to running Purity Vanilla, which would eventually pass VV in popularity and outlive it.
