Continuity of Salt 1 and it was the first nuclear arms treaty which assumed real reductions in strategic forces to 2,250 of all categories of delivery vehicles on both sides. Banned new missile programs and limited long range missiles. This showed clear cohesion between the two nations as they both agreed on limiting their military force in order to be safer.
