may 2, 1760 - Treaty of Chemnitz

Description:

Following Frederick II's suicide and Frederick William II's final failure at the Battle of Leipzig, Frederick William II is forced to sign a humiliating treaty in the Saxon city of Chemnitz. Prussia has to accept an intrusive eastern border (even though Frederick William manages to convince Empress Elizabeth of Russia to not annex East Prussia due to ethnic concerns regarding the local German nobles) and has to recognize and guarantee the sovereignity of various new German states risen again from the ashes.

Among them is a new and revitalized Saxony, which with the signing of the Treaty of Chemnitz becomes the owner of the city in which the contract is signed.
