The 26th of July movement was a revolutionary organization turned political party led by Fidel Castro in Cuba named after the 1953 attack on army barracks in Santiago de Cuba in attempt to overthrow the Cuban Dictator Fulgencia Batista. It is one of the most important parties from the Cuban Revolution, with Castro being a well known military hero. In 1962, it became the United Party of the Cuban Socialist Revolution.
