Description:

Indian Act amendments that give women the right to vote in band council elections, powers to elected band councils and allows for potlatch and sun dance to take place. This amendment did not give women any more rights. The “Double Mother” clause was introduced and a person's whose mother and grandmother had acquired status through a marriage, loses their status.
