mar 1, 1954 - The Bravo Test(H bomb testing)

Description:

On this day, the U.S. set of an H bomb in the Bikini Atoll which was the largest explosion the U.S. had tested at the time. This explosion was a thousand times bigger than the one dropped on Hiroshima, and also resulted in 23 fisherman in the area receiving radiation poisoning from the nuclear ash. This event was important because like many other bomb testings it allowed the U.S. to see just how dangerous these bombs were. This would then lead to bomb restrictions in the future and an agreement to stop testing bombs because of the harm to people in surrounding areas.
