President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1954 which set forth the creation of the highway. This meant a series of highways and roads that went all across America. This was an important event because it meant that people had an easier way of traveling across America using vehicles. This meant that trucks had a much easier time transporting goods. It also meant that people could leave cities easily if there was a nuclear attack.
