mar 2, 1955 - Claudette Colvin Refuses to Give Up her Seat
She was 15 when she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus in segregated Montgomery, Alabama, nine months prior to Rosa Parks. She became one of four plaintiffs in Browder v. Gayle, which ruled that Montgomery's segregated bus system was unconstitutional. It said that she inspired Rosa Parks but all credit and spotlight was given to Mrs. Parks.
