Booker Taliaferro Washington was a reformer and educator after the civil war for African Americans and African American rights and gave the famous Atlanta Compromise speech in whcih he felt that for the wellbing of african americans they needed to understand they were insoubordinate to whites and should listen to the rules of whites and remain seprated.
