John Davison Rockefeller was a capitalist of the Gilded age and began his empire in 1863 when he opened his first Oil refinery outside of Cleveland. He would then move on to dominate the oil industry and create a monopoly on the Oil refing industry and would hold control of it through the company known as Standard Oil which would make hime in trun the richest man to ever walk the earth.Added to timeline:
