Hilary Putman was an American philosopher who contributed to a variety of philosophical fields, such as mind, language, science, mathematics, and logic. Putnam is best known for his semantic externalism, which is, a concept underlying the view of a term where the meaning is determined by external factors. He was also known for his philosophy of mind and his constant vindication of realism, the view that truth and knowledge are objective (Menahem).
