jul 1, 1938 - First Synthesis of PTFE (Teflon)

Description:

While working at DuPont, Roy J Plunkett synthesized PTFE by accident, coating the inside of a cylinder with a potential refrigerant he was researching. It was patented as Teflon by 1945 and produced commercially by 1948.
