Description:

This peace represented the end of the War of Spanish Succession which France had been pursuing for a great length of time. It also represented the end and failure of King Louis XIV’s attempts to capture universal domination of Europe. This also put Britain at the forefront of Europe, winning the war and having a massive sea power and trade connections globally. (Palmer, 184-6)
