jan 1, 1660 - The Whigs and Tories (1660)
Description:
Two political sides that were created after the Glorious Revolution in response to political occurrences. The Whigs disliked the King, France, and Catholics, represented by upper class and merchants, whereas the Tories prefered the King, they were usually lesser than the Whigs in status.
(COMPARISON) The Whigs and Tories became names that would stick around the political scene for a great length of time, this is compared to people such as the Levellers—led by John Lilburne—whose ideas were not successful during their time. (Palmer, 161) (Palmer, 165)
