Description:

A political figure that came into power through the English Civil War. He led the Commonwealth by governing it until he died in 1658, after he beheaded Charles I, and created a small minority of Puritans who controlled the country.

(COMPARISON) Cromwell is more important as a military man than the likes of Thomas Fairfax due to the power he gained from his success during the Civil War. (Palmer 160)
