jan 1, 3630 BC - Silk
Description:
The production of silk began at some point during the Neolithic era. China had a monopoly on silk for thousands of years, having traded silk with the Greeks, the Romans, and the Persians.
The reason they were able to keep such a tight grip on the silk trade was because the knowledge of how to make silk was kept a secret from the rest of the world. It would, however, reach Korea in 200 BC and India in 140 AD.
