Chopsticks were invented at some point during the Shang dynasty. The first chopsticks were used for cooking, stirring the fire, serving or seizing bits of food. They would not be used as eating utensils until the Han dynasty.The Standard Chinese term for chopsticks is kuàizi, which means "quick bamboo"
