The Wounded Knee Massacre took place in December of 1890. The massacre left some 150 Native Americans dead, in the final clash of the United States and the Sioux (despite the Great Sioux War being already finished). It began when the reservation police at Pine Ridge mistakenly killed Sitting Bull, the famous Sioux chief.Added to timeline:
