apr 14, 1898 - Spanish-American War
Description:
The Spanish-American war began in 1898 because Cubans had been struggling for independence from Spain. American intervention was in popular demand after an American ship meant to protect Americans was sunk in Havana. Spain and America disagreed on how independent Cuba was, and war broke out. In the end, Spain gave America Puerto Rico and Guam, as well as letting Cuba be independant.
