may 11, 1894 - Pullman Strike

Description:

The Pullman Strike was an unsuccessful nationwide strike in the United States in 1894. It was a railroad strike and boycott that severely disrupted rail traffic because of wage cuts causing starvation for workers. Cleveland ordered troops to end it, but also signed to create a national holiday, Labor Day, in honor of the movement during the strike.
