jun 30, 1892 - Homestead Strike
Description:
The Homestead Strike pitted Carnegie Steel against the strongest trade union, the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers. Carnegie wanted to break the union, and had his plant manager, Frick, step up production demands and eventually lock the workers out of the plant. Most of the workers, despite not being in the union, joined the strike, and met the Pinkerton guards that came to end the strike with weapons and force. Eventually, Carnegie succeeded in ending the union.
