jul 14, 1877 - The Great Railroad Strike

Description:

The Great Railroad strike occured in the year of 1877, when Baltimore railroad workers attacked the B&O rail line in Baltimore attacking the militia men, producing firearms with shootings throughout the city becoming prevalant. The rage soon spread to Pittsburgh where the hatred for the capitalist joined together not jsut the railroad workers but also the steel mill workers. There the chaos and fighting would eventually spread until it exploded into fighting between the people and militia. This fighting would spread throughout the country until at one point it shut down or slowed two thirds of the nations rail roads. The great strike as it was then called though would slowly fade out as there was no true leadership for the strikers and with that there were no money or funds prepared for striking. So in turn, all the capitalist had to do was wait and starve out the people. The Great Strike would soon end only a few weeks after it began.
