may 7, 1920 - Agnes Campbell Macphail

Description:

Agnes Campbell Macphail the first Women Politician who served as an MP in the House of Commons. She was born on March 24, 1890 and died on February 13, 1954. She was originally a school teacher, who stood up to for farmers in her region. She got elected into the house as its first female member because 1921 was the first year when certain women could vote in national elections. This was a time of great progress for women as they were finally getting respected, noticed and were able to run in a provincial election. Even though people still had a long way to go before treating them as equals, women had gained tons of progress with this election.
