The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred when the U.S. discovered that the Soviets were building missile sites in Cuba. The U.S. demanded that the Soviets dismantle and remove all of their bases and missiles from Cuba. A war almost broke out, but the Soviets backed down, with the condition that the U.S. would never invade Cuba, and have missiles removed from Turkey.Added to timeline:
