apr 6, 1917 - U.S. Enters World War I

Description:

(Term 3) After the speech given by Woodrow Wilson to the United States on April 2 1917 in which he considered whether or not the U.S. should enter World War I, the United States decided to enter the war.

1. If the U.S. had not entered the war, it could have lasted far longer than it did, causing the deaths of many more innocent people.

2. If the U.S. had not entered the war, Germany could have continued to conquer democratic nations. This would have eventually drawn the U.S. into the war anyway when Germany had become stronger. This whole theoretical conflict could have profusely altered the cultures and leadership structures of many of the countries attacked by Germany.

3. The U.S. was able to tip the scales and help the Allies win the war. This made it possible for missionaries to once again start serving in Germany, Austria, and other European countries that were involved. (All missionaries were evacuated from said nations at the start of the war.)
