He had made it clear earlier that he wanted the the priests and Levites to collect a tax from the people in order to effect repairs on the Temple and to replace the utensils that had been stolen. Up until this point though they hadn't done what he wanted. So now he gets Jehoiada involved and they start bringing in a lot of money for the Temple.
