mar 24, 1700 - Universal Monarchy (1700)
Description:
Universal monarchy is the fear that a single European monarch will have enough power, influence, land, and might to effectively subordinate all the other states to his will. Louis XIV managed to get close to this state in 1700 upon accepting the will of Charles II of Spain, yet it also prompted swift backlash from powers seeking to maintain the balance of Europe, such as the Dutch, the English, and Austria.
