jul 24, 1661 - Absolutism (1661)

Description:

Absolutism is the idea that kings have divine power in their kingdoms and should be free from parliaments, the will of the people, rule of the nobles, and whatever else could restrain a king’s will. The most successful absolutist monarch was Louis XIV who used absolutist ideals to become the most powerful minister, ruler, and bureaucrat that France had ever seen. Absolutism can be seen as more influential than the idea of Republicanism because at this point in history, absolutism is more the norm and it is more acceptable than Republicanism, meaning it had more of an impact on governments and peoples.
