He hesitated when told to arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock.
On april 18 1775 he sent a detachment of 1000 soldiers to lexington and concord to seize the illegal supplies without blood shed , but the farmers in the colonies were warned that the british were coming.
This was the beginning of the Revolution.
